police car with lights on in the dark chasing group of loose piglets
Public servants wear multiple hats each day, from protecting the peace to rescuing those in need. Sometimes the latter includes a pair of loose piglets nicknamed “Bacon Bits’ who escaped and required capturing.
The scenario being described went down earlier this week in Beaufort, South Carolina, just across the river from Hilton Head and south of Charleston. Police officers were called in to capture the escaped piglets and what ensued was hilarious mayhem.
South Carolina Police Officers Scramble To Capture Loose Piglets
In the video which was shared by the Beaufort Police Department, you can hear the woman filming it saying “you’re about to be TikTok famous” as the officers in full uniform try in vain to catch up with the adorable piglets.
The video was shared first by the Beaufort Police Department on Facebook and later by Live 5 News on Instagram where the top comment reads “need the body cam footage.” It would truly be fantastic if they released that footage though… Getting the officer’s perspectives as the gleeful loose piglets ran amok would be incredible.
Over on Facebook, the Beaufort Police Department captioned their video “Suspects: Bacon bits. Offense: Fleeing and squealing. Disposition: Returned to their owners. No ham was done. We have no caption for this… thankfully, an amazing citizen caught the chase on camera. 😂 Thank you, Officers Poulin and Barbery, for your relentless pursuit of these little career cri-ham-inals.”
Sadly, the Police Department has turned off comments on the video which seems to be a nationwide trend. My hometown police department has disabled all comments on Instagram and Facebook as well.
