Earlier this year, comic books fans across the globe were faced with the depressing reality that their beloved neighborhood Spider-Man may be leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe due to a contract dispute with Sony.

While Marvel Studios and Sony were ultimately able to iron out a new deal, the scare served as a reminder to fans that we shouldn’t take for granted the golden age of comic book films that we’re currently lucky enough to be living in.

Luckily, though, because the two Hollywood behemoths were able to hammer out a new deal, Spider-Man will continue to appear in the MCU as planned, with various solo and team-up films on the way. And according to recent rumors, we may know when that next major team-up movie will be.

According to industry insider Daniel Richtman — who has a history of nailing entertainment scoops — Spider-Man’s next major Avengers-level crossover appearance could happen in 2023’s Captain Marvel 2, particularly if the film adapts the iconic “Secret Invasion” arc from the comic books:

While Marvel Studios has already announced and confirmed their full Phase 4 slate, Phase 5 — which is set to begin in 2022 — is more of a mystery.

Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will kick off in May with the release of Black Widow, which will then be followed by the release of Eternals next November. Then, in 2021, Marvel Studios will release three more feature films: Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of MadnessShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ring, and Thor: Love and Thunder.
