Despite being just 25 years old, Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney is well on her way to becoming one of the biggest actresses in Hollywood.
Thanks to her breakout performance as Cassie Howard in the hit HBO series Euphoria, Sweeney has since booked parts in upcoming projects such as Madame Web, Immaculate, Echo Valley, a remake of Barbarella, and an untitled rom-com alongside Top Gun: Maverick star Glen Powell, which she’s recently been filming.
Apparently celebrating the ending of her time shooting the film in Australia, Sweeney shared some behind-the-scenes photos to her Instagram account.
In addition to her work on Euphoria, Sweeney has also starred in projects such as season one of The White Lotus, Handmaid’s Tale, Sharp Objects, Under The Silver Lake, Clementine, Big Time Adolescence, Pretty Little Liars, The Voyeurs, Night Teeth, and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
Her latest movie, Tina Satter’s HBO film Reality (the trailer for the project was released earlier this week) is currently earning rave reviews as it has a 100% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Madame Web will represent Sweeney’s first foray into big-budget franchise filmmaking as she’s set to star as Julia Carpenter / Spider-Woman alongside Dakota Johnson’s titular Madame Web, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps, Adam Scott, and Zosia Mamet.
It’s certainly a wise move for Sweeney as the film is part of Sony’s confusing, Venom-featuring Spider-Man universe, which she could easily get out of if a bigger part in a franchise like the MCU, DCU, or Star Wars were to come along.
At this time, Sweeney’s rom-com alongside Powell — which is directed by Easy A and Friends With Benefits filmmaker Will Gluck — does not have an official title or release date. It does, however, have a cast, as the likes of Alexandra Shipp and Dermot Mulroney will be starring alongside the flashy duo of Sweeney and Powell.
