The Devil Wears Prada 2 had its world premiere on Monday night and revealed that one of the biggest stars on the cast list, Sydney Sweeney, was cut from the film. Sweeney was set to cameo as herself in the project.
According to reports, Sydney Sweeney was supposed to cameo as herself near the beginning of the film but was ultimately cut from the movie all together as a result of a “creative decision.”

Sweeney being nixed from The Devil Wears Prada 2 comes amid backlash for the storyline her Euphoria character Cassie Howard is being put through in the third and final season of the hit HBO series.
“As it appears in the film, the trio arrives at the Dior offices to seek Emily’s help. Initially, however, Sweeney appeared in a scene that expanded upon Emily’s introduction, and saw her at work dressing a celebrity client, with Sweeney playing herself in the reported three-minute scene.”
“EW has learned that the scene did not work structurally with the rest of the sequence, and that the team working on the movie was grateful for her participation, making the decision to remove the bit a difficult one.” [via Entertainment Weekly]
Having been cut from The Devil Wears Prada 2, Sweeney has no other theatrical releases scheduled for this year. This week, Netflix announced production on Gundam, which she’s starring in, officially began. Additional potential upcoming projects for Sweeney include Custom of the Country, Scandalous!, Split Fiction, I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl, and a sequel to The Housemaid.
In The Devil Wears Prada 2, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are all reprising their roles from the original film, while Justin Theroux, Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Lady Gaga and B.J. Novak are among the new additions.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 will be released in movie theaters in Friday, May 1.
