The first look photos of Echo Valley, Sydney Sweeney’s next starring role, have been released. Sweeney co-stars in the film alongside Academy Award-winning actress Julianne Moore, which will be hitting AppleTV+ on June 13.
After starring in a trio of films in 2024 — Madame Web, Immaculate, and Eden (which premiered but hasn’t been released) — Echo Valley is Sydney Sweeney’s next project and will see the 26-year-old actress take on a more dramatic turn. Despite her status as a Hollywood sex symbol, Sweeney has displayed dramatic chops in the past in films such as Reality and the HBO series Euphoria.
According to the Vanity Fair piece, Echo Valley follows the Oscar-winning Moore after her “troubled daughter Claire (Sweeney) shows up on her doorstep—covered in someone else’s blood and [she] must decide just how far she’ll go to protect her child.”
Domhnall Gleeson, Kyle MacLachlan, Fiona Shaw, Edmund Donovan, and Rebecca Creskoff also star in the film alongside Moore and Sweeney.
“Sweeney’s performance captures the volatility of addiction and the repercussions it can have on a family. ‘I’ve had a lot of family members deal with addiction and then struggle with similar issues as Claire and her friends, and her group that she hangs out with,’ Sweeney says. ‘I’ve kind of had firsthand experience with it.'”
“While researching the role, Sweeney says she watched hundreds of YouTube videos of addicts interviewed on Skid Row. ‘I mean, there’s a manipulation underneath a lot of it,’ she says. ‘But when there was love in the air in the room, you truly still felt it. The person that they are at the core, as buried as they might be, is still there.'” [via Vanity Fair]

In addition to Echo Valley, Sweeney wrapped production of a biopic about female boxer Christy Martin late last year and recently filmed an adaptation of the thriller novel The Housemaid alongside Amanda Seyfried.
The rapidly rising actress is also set to produce and star as Kim Novak in the film Scandalous!, which follows the love affair between Novak and Sammy Davis Jr., set to be played by Alien: Romulus breakout David Jonsson. She’s also attached to a remake of the 1960’s Jane Fonda-starring sci-fi cult classic Barbarella alongside director Edgar Wright, currently working with Sweeney’s Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell in a remake of The Running Man.
