The second episode of Euphoria‘s third and final season aired last night and continued Sydney Sweeney’s controversial storyline in which her character creates shocking adult content dressed in various fetish outfits.
In this latest episode, Sydney Sweeney’s character Cassie Howard dressed up as a baby to sell adult content, in addition to doing full frontal dressed as a baseball umpire and covering her privates in ice cream. There is also a shot of her wearing nothing but a soaked and see-through American flag.

Sweeney has since addressed the storyline directly and defended the show’s creative direction, saying she filmed the scenes with confidence in order to authentically portray where Cassie is at in her life — directionless, attention-seeking, and willing to do almost anything to feel seen.
Viewers, though, are still questioning why Sweeney agreed to the arc, with some saying that she’s being put through a “humiliation ritual” and is being “degraded.”
“This season of Euphoria being a rite of degradation for Sydney Sweeney and i honestly wanna know what’s going through her head because there’s no way it’s just money money money,” one shocked fan posted on social media.
“Please god i cant keep seeing Cassie degrade herself in the most embarrassing ways imaginable,” was a second reaction on social media.
“Sydney girlllll say no to some stuff,” a third begged.

To its credit, Euphoria is at least aware of the shocking nature of Cassie Howard’s direction, as Zendaya’s character Rue says in a voiceover: “Cassie was exactly the kinda girl you’d dream of signing. Beautiful, but directionless. So desperate for attention she’s willing to humiliate herself.”
Euphoria Season 3 will continue airing on Sunday nights until its series finale on May 31.
