The first trailer for Jeff Nichols’ new film The Bikeriders, his first movie since 2016’s Midnight Special and Loving, has been released.

Emmy-winning actress Jodie Comer gets top billing in the film that follows a motorcycle gang in 1960s Chicago. Tom Hardy, Austin Butler, Michael Shannon, Mike Faist, Norman Reedus, Boyd Holbrook, and more.

While Nichols may not be a household name to casual film fans, he emerged as one of the most promising directors of the 2010s with a string of well-received films: Take Shelter, Mud, Midnight Special, and Loving.

Nicholas was briefly attached to direct the upcoming Quiet Place prequel — A Quiet Place: Day One — however, he dropped out of the project and was replaced by Pig filmmaker Michael Sarnoski.

Not counting the little-seen and generally terrible 2020 film Capone, The Bikeriders is Hardy’s first non-Marvel movie since starring in Dunkirk back in 2017. Later this year, Hardy is also set to star in the Netflix action-thriller Havoc from The Raid director Gareth Evans.

As for Butler, the film is his follow-up to his Academy Award-nominated performance in Elvis, which turned him into an A-lister. He was also set to star in Dune: Part Two later this year, but that was delayed to March 2024 due to the ongoing actors and writers strikes in Hollywood.

Similar to Butler, Comer is also in the midst of ascending to the top of Hollywood’s A-list, as the 30-year-old English actress — who gained international recognition for her lead role in the series Killing Eve — has recently starred in projects such as The Last Duel and Free Guy.

Comer was also set to star in Ridley Scott’s upcoming film Napoleon alongside Joaquin Phoenix, however, she dropped out due to scheduling conflicts and instead will be seen starring in The End We Start From alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, Katherine Waterston, and Jodie Comer.

The Bikeriders hits movie theaters in the United States on Friday, December 1.
