The Endurance Of Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer John Oates

Load Out Podcast

Endurance.

Few words better-describe someone who began making music in the 1960s, got his first record deal in the early 1970s, scored his first number one hit in 1977, was one of the architects of the soundtrack of the 1980s into the early 1990s. He took some time off to retool his life and re-emerged in the 2000s as both a successful solo artist as well as through a rebirth of his legendary songwriting and performing partnership. And now he’s again selling out shows (when not locked down during pandemics) across the world.

That’s John Oates – and he is our guest on episode 5 of The Load Out Music Podcast.

Oates is of course one half of the legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Hall & Oates. And like U2, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, John Mellencamp or Prince – they are one of those bands that it’s nearly impossible to not be aware of their endless string of hits that include “She’s Gone,” “Sarah Smile,” “Private Eyes,” “Rich Girl,” You Make My Dreams,” “I Can’t Go For That,” “Out of Touch,” “Did It In A Minute” and the list goes on and on.

But there’s so much more to Oates beyond his successful partnership with Daryl Hall – from his upbringing near Philadelphia to his successful work as an Americana music artist to his sports cars and more.

We discuss all of it on episode 5 of The Load Out. Have a listen and get to know the legendary John Oates.
