The first trailer for the much-anticipated Captain Marvel movie starring Brie Larson has been released, taking us one tiny step closer to finding out exactly how the Avengers manage to overcome Thanos in Infinity War 2.

Entertainment Weekly gave us our first first synopsis of the upcoming superhero film, which takes place in the mid-1990s, earlier this month…

Captain Marvel sidesteps the traditional origin-story template, and when it begins, Carol already has her powers. She’s left her earthly life behind to join an elite Kree military team called Starforce, led by Jude Law’s enigmatic commander.

But before long, Carol finds herself back on Earth with new questions about her past. And she’s got a formidable enemy in the form of the Skrulls — the notorious Marvel baddies made all the more dangerous by their shape-shifting abilities. Ben Mendelsohn plays their leader Talos, who spearheads a Skrull invasion of Earth.

“She can’t help but be herself,” Larson told EW regarding the movie. “She can be aggressive, and she can have a temper, and she can be a little invasive and in your face. She’s also quick to jump to things, which makes her amazing in battle because she’s the first one out there and doesn’t always wait for orders. But the [not] waiting for orders is, to some, a character flaw.”

The trailer gives us a good look at Danvers in both her green Kree-oriented superhero suit a well as her more well-known red and blue gear. We also get to see Hala, the home of the Kree (who are the source of her powers), the Kree Starforce military team, and The Skrulls, who she will doing battle with in the film.

Captain Marvel also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg, Gemma Chan, Lashana Lynch, Lee Pace, Jude Law, Djimon Hounsou, Ben Mendelsohn, and Annette Bening.

Captain Marvel, the first female-led entry into the MCU, hits theaters March 8, 2019. Can’t wait.
