With Disney knowing they had a home run on their hands with The Mandalorian, production on the second season began before the first season even finished airing. As a result, when March began, season two of the series was largely finished, luckily leaving the series unaffected by our current global situation.
At the start of the year, there were reports that the season two directors list added the likes of James Mangold (Logan, Ford v. Ferrari) and Robert Rodriguez (From Dusk Til Dawn, Sin City) to its ranks. While Mangold was quick to deny involvement in a Twitter exchange with fellow director Ron Howard, the Rodgiruez rumors persisted and now have seemingly been confirmed.
According to the Star Wars-focused podcast Black Series Rebels, Rodriguez and James Mangold (Logan, Ford V Ferrari) were on the roster to direct upcoming episodes of the series alongside a returning Bryce Dallas Howard, who helmed “Chapter 4: Sanctuary” in the show’s first season. Mangold quickly took to Twitter to debunk the rumors, but other sources began to report that there was truth to the Rodriguez portion of the report. Now, HN Entertainment is back with some more news, reporting that the director worked alongside cinematographer David Klein, who shot Deadwood: The Movie as well as episodes of True Blood, Homeland, and more.
“HN Entertainment has now confirmed that cinematographer David Klein worked with director Robert Rodriguez on the Star Wars streaming series, it remains to be seen how many episodes Rodriguez worked on,” the site reports.
At this time, season two of The Mandalorian — which sees Rosario Dawson join the cast as fan-favorite Jedi Ahsoka Tano — is set to his Disney+ in October.
