‘The Simpsons’ Have Done It Again, Vaguely Predicted Kamala Harris’ Presidential Campaign

The Simpsons’ penchant for “predicting” future events is both a remarkable phenomenon yet still slightly overblown.

While the iconic long-running comedy series has “predicted” the future upwards of 30 times, it has been on the air of 34 years and 750 episodes: that’s *a lot* of runway to take swings at what you think the world may look like in five to ten years.

The latest of The Simpsons predictions comes courtesy of President Joe Biden ending his bid for re-election and endorsing his Vice President Kamala Harris.

In a season 11 of the show, not only did they predict a woman president — which is obviously a broad claim — but they said it would succeed a Donald Trump presidency (even she wins, she won’t be technically succeeding him, but it’s close enough). Even Lisa Simpson’s outfit is similar to those of Harris.

“We inherited quite the budget crunch from President Trump,” Lisa says in a cabinet meeting in the 17th episode of season 11, ‘Bart to the Future’.

After Trump won the Presidential election in 2016, The Simpsons referenced their prediction with its famed recurring chalkboard gag, with Bart writing “Being right sucks” over and over again. There was also this moment from a 2015 episode.

Some other notable predictions made by The Simpsons includes the Siegfried and Roy tiger attack, Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl performance, Smartwatches, Disney buying 20th Century Fox, the 2014 Ebola outbreak, and more.
