Despite the fact that Dune: Part Two has been bumped from November to March due to Hollywood studios refusing to fairly compensate actors, lead actor Timothee Chalamet was still the subject of a feature interview in this month’s GQ Magazine.

Of the many interesting tidbits in the piece, one of the most eye-catching is when Chalamet reveals that he got an email from the legendary Tom Cruise that he believed read like a “war cry” for Hollywood and movie stardom.

“After I met Tom Cruise, right after finishing the first Dune, he sent me the most wonderfully inspiring email,” Chalamet said. It included a Rolodex of sorts of all the experts he might need for stunt training. A motorcycle coach. A helicopter coach.

“He basically said, in Old Hollywood, you would be getting dance training and fight training, and nobody is going to hold you to that standard today. So it’s up to you. The email was really like a war cry.” [via GQ Magazine]

While Dune: Part Two might have been unfortunately bumped to 2024, Chalamet’s other upcoming film Wonka is still set to hit movie theaters on December 15. Wonka is directed by Paul King, the filmmaker behind the beloved Paddington movies.

As for Dune: Part Two, the sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s Best Picture-nominated Dune, which was released back in 2021. In addition to Chalamet, the film also stars Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, and Léa Seydoux.

After Wonka and Dune: Part Two, Chalamet will likely begin production on James Mangold’s (Logan, Ford v. Ferrari) A Complete Unknown, which will see the 27-year-old portray iconic American musician Bob Dylan.
