Netflix has released the first clip from Tires, the upcoming series created, written by, and starring Shane Gillis.

Unlike Gillis’ previous sketch comedy work, Tires, which also stars Chris O’Connor, Kilah Fox, Stavros Halkias, and Andrew Schulz, is a scripted comedy series.

The first season of Tires, which premieres on May 23, consists of six episodes.

Here is the official synopsis for Tires, via Netflix:

Will (Steven Gerben), the nervous and unqualified heir to an auto repair chain, attempts to turn his father’s business around despite constant torture from his cousin and now employee, Shane (Shane Gillis).

In addition to Tires, Netflix also ordered another stand-up special from Gillis, which will be his second on the streamer followng 2023’s Beautiful Dogs. Gillis will also be performing at the Netflix is a Joke Fest in Los Angeles in early May.

Gillis — who was famously fired by Saturday Night Live five days after he was hired in 2019 over ethnic slurs he said on a 2018 episode of his podcast — has been on a rapid rise following the release of his 2021 special Shane Gillis: Live in Austin, which has since racked up over 23 million views on YouTube. Earlier this year, Gillis returned to Saturday Night Live as a host.

Prior to Tires, Gillis’ only professional acting experience was in two episodes of Pete Davidson’s Peacock series Bupkis.
