After being spotted with her at the Miami Formula 1 Grand Prix over the weekend, reports indicate that 60-year-old Top Gun: Maverick star Tom Cruise is putting on the full charm offensive to land Shakira.

According to a new report from Page Six, Cruise is “extremely interested in pursuing” Shakira, who recently split from her longtime partner Gerard Pique, a center back at Barcelona Football Club.

The source who spoke to Page Six also said that “there is chemistry” between the two, who were seen hanging together at the F1 event in Miami on Sunday. Following the event, Cruise reportedly sent Shakira flowers.

“Shakira needs a soft pillow to fall on, and that could be Tom,” says our source — adding that Cruise has the benefit of being, “a nice-looking guy, and he is talented.” The source also cracked, “And she isn’t taller than him.” [via Page Six]

Cruise — fresh off of “saving movies” (according to Steven Spielberg) last summer with the success of Top Gun: Maverick — is gearing up for the release of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, which will hit theaters on Friday, July 14.

The first Mission: Impossible film since 2018’s Fallout — considered to be one of the best action films of the decade — Dead Reckoning Part One has a shot at crossing the billion-dollar mark given Cruise’s re-elevated profile in this post-Top Gun world.

In addition to Cruise, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, stars Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, Pom Klementieff, Esai Morales, Rob Delaney, Henry Czerny, and Cary Elwes.

He’s also currently filming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, which is scheduled to release next Summer and is rumored to be the final Mission: Impossible that Cruise will star in.
