Here’s The Official Trailer For Tom Hardy’s ‘Capone’, Which Will Hit On-Demand On May 12

Vertical Entertainment

Tom Hardy’s Capone will be the latest film to get the straight-to-on-demand treatment, as the biopic about the life of infamous Chicago gangster Al Capone will hit streaming nationwide on Tuesday, May 12. With theatres closed, Vertical Entertainment and Redbox Entertainment have teamed up to release Capone as a home premiere VOD release on May 12th with an on-demand 48-hour rental. The distributor is still hoping for a theatrical release later in the summer as things return to normal.

The Josh Trank directed film — which was originally titled Fonzo — will specifically focus on the years after Capone’s 11-year prison sentence at the United States Penitentiary as he suffers from syphilis.

In addition to making the announcement of the film’s new release strategy, Trank — whose previous credits include Chronicle and Fantastic Four — dropped the official trailer. Trank desperately needs a win with this one, as his last outing — 2015’s critically-panned Fantastic Four which starred Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, and Toby Kebbell — is one of Hollywood’s most well-known horror stories of recent years.

In addition to Hardy, Capone stars Linda Cardellini as Mae Capone, Jack Lowden as FBI Agent Crawford, Matt Dillon as Johnny, Noel Fisher as Junior, Kyle MacLachlan as Karlock, Kathrine Narducci as Rosie Capone, Tilda Del Toro as Mona Lisa, Mason Guccione as Tony, and Caiden Acurio as Vince.

Capone marks Hardy’s first film since 2018’s Venom. The sequel — Venom 2, which sees Woody Harrelson join the cast as Venom’ns longtime rival Cletus Kasady/Carnage — was in the process of filming in San Fransisco in early March prior our new way of life being ushered in. At this time, it is unclear when the film — which was originally scheduled to hit theaters in early October — will be released.
