If you look through Tom Hardy’s recent filmography, you’ll notice that the beloved actor hasn’t done much other than the Venom movies since 2018 (except for last year’s The Bikeriders, which was great). That’s set to change this year, though, as he’s starring in the Gareth Edwards film Havoc and the Guy Ritchie series MobLand, which recently debuted its first trailer.
In addition to Tom Hardy — who will be seemingly playing a “normal” character in the show, i.e. not doing some sort of insane voice work — MobLand also stars hitters such as Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren in lead roles.
Check out the official synopsis and trailer for MobLand, which hails from Guy Ritchie — director of films such as Snatch, Sherlock Holmes, The Gentlemen (similar vibes to what’s being teased in MobLand, to be honest), and more — below. MobLand will premiere on Paramount+ on March 30.
“Power is up for grabs as the Harrigans and Stevensons, two warring London crime families, clash in a kill-or-be-killed battle that threatens to topple empires and ruin lives. Caught in the crossfire is Harry Da Souza, the street-smart ‘fixer’ as dangerous as he is handsome, who knows too well where loyalties lie when opposing forces collide. As kingdom goes up against kingdom, lines will be crossed – and the only saving grace is a bet-your-life guarantee: family above everything.”
In addition to Hardy, Brosnan and Mirren, MobLand will also star Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Alex Gine, Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts, Lisa Dwan and Emily Barber.
Ritchie also has a handful of films due out in the next year, first up being Fountain of Youth with John Krasinski, Natalie Portman, Domhnall Gleeson, Eiza González, Laz Alonso, Arian Moayed, Carmen Ejogo, and Stanley Tucci. Additional projects include the films In the Grey and Wife & Dog.
