- Travis Scott sat down with Charlamagne The God for his first interview following the Astroworld tragedy.
- “I went through something and I feel like fans went through something and people’s parents went through something, and it really hurts,” Scott said.
- Hundreds of lawsuits have been filed in response to the tragedy, which resulted in the deaths of 10 people.
Over a month after the Astroworld tragedy took the lives of 10 concert-goers during the November 5 show, rapper Travis Scott — who headlined the festival and was performing when the deadly crowd surges began — has given his first sit-down interview with Charlamagne The God.
During the 50-minute conversation, Scott detailed the emotions he’s been feeling, saying that he’s been on an “emotional rollercoaster.” Scott also expressed remorse for those in the crowd, saying that he feels like “fans went through something and people’s parents went through something, and it really hurts.”
Charlamagne also asked Scott at what point he became aware that people had died. Scott said that he was unaware while he was performing and that he didn’t know the “exact details” until minutes before the official press conference that followed his deadly set.
“I’ve been on different types of emotions, you know? An emotional rollercoaster, I mean. It gets so hard because, you know, I always feel connected with my fans. I went through something and I feel like fans went through something and people’s parents went through something, and it really hurts. It hurts the community, it hurts the city,” Scott said.
“There’s been a lot of thoughts, a lot of feelings, a lot of grieving, and just trying to wrap my head around it. And really just wanting to be there and wishing you could just hold everyone, kind of just heal them, talk to them, have conversations. It really just hurts, man.”
Scott is currently facing hundreds of lawsuits as a result of the tragedy. In late November, the total number of lawsuits had surpassed 400.
