Breaking Down The Excellent New Trailer For ‘Venom’ Including Some Things You May Have Missed

While the first trailer for upcoming Marvel movie Venom starring Tom Hardy was pretty entertaining, many fans were severely disappointed that it didn’t have any symbiote action in it.

Trailer number two, released by Sony at CinemaCon, definitely does not suffer from that problem. In the new trailer, Tom Hardy goes full Venom – shiny black tendrils wreaking havoc on his enemies, a mouthful of teeth that would make Pennywise proud, and Hardy’s Eddie Brock having conversations with himself and repeatedly referring to “we.”

Some key points we gleaned from the trailer…

• The Life Foundation, a group of villains from the Spiderverse, and their leader Carlton Drake, are the main antagonsts of the film.

• The character played by Michelle Williams is Anne Weying, who in the comics becomes She-Venom.

• Rather being like Spider-Man and hanging out in New York City, Brock apparently works and lives in San Francisco, which actually matches the comics.

• There are subtle references to the Five Symbiotes – Scream, Riot, Agony, Lasher, and Phage – which also fits with the Lethal Protector arc we expect to see in the movie.

• Still no Woody Harrelson, so rumors that he is going to be playing Carnage will continue.

Overall, “we” very much approve of all of these new developments. Check out the new trailer below…

Venom hits theaters on October 5, 2018 and also stars Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, Reid Scott, Scott Haze and Sope Aluko.
