Wild video shows a motorcycle hanging from a traffic light in Canada after it hit a car at an intersection in suburban Vancouver. How it got up there was an interesting story, but the real question is, how did they get it down?
Cameras caught the motorcycle hanging from the traffic light pole after a head-on collision in Delta, British Columbia, at approximately 3 p.m. Saturday local time.
According to surveillance footage shared on social media, the motorcycle was traveling south when it collided with a silver BMW making a left turn. Assuming the motorcycle is a Suzuki GSX-R1000 40th Anniversary model, as it appears to be in the photos, it weighs around 450 pounds all by itself.
Photos from the scene show that the collision damaged the car’s front bumper and smashed the windshield. Several emergency vehicles are stationed at the intersection, and workers have taped off the road. Police say that they had to close the road between 72nd Avenue and 70th Avenue while emergency personnel worked to remove the vehicles and debris from the roadway.
“Never seen anything like this, like seeing a movie,” Surrey resident William Chan, who said he came across the crash while heading to Krispy Kreme, the doughnut shop nearby, told CBC News. “I was looking down and then I looked up and the [motorbike] was above — kind of crazy.”
Authorities reported that emergency personnel took the driver of the Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycle to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. They also reported that the driver of the BMW sustained no injuries.
The local fire department had to remove the motorcycle from the traffic light
“Today, Delta Firefighters responded alongside our emergency service partners to a serious motor vehicle incident involving a motorcycle on Scott Road in North Delta,” the Delta Fire Department wrote on social media after removing the bike from the traffic light with recovery ropes.
“As a result of the collision, the motorcycle became suspended from a traffic signal above the intersection. Our crews worked throughout the incident to assist with patient care, scene safety, and later the safe removal of the motorcycle from the traffic light.”

The Delta Fire Department also used the wild accident to remind everyone to slow down and pay attention when on the road.
“Today also serves as an important reminder to slow down, stay alert, and practice road safety at all times — whether you are driving, riding, cycling, or walking in our community. A moment of caution can make all the difference,” they wrote.
