New ‘Westworld’ Season 2 Photos Only Add More Mystery, But What About Samurai World?

The epic, bloody finale of Season 1 in Westworld left many big, big questions. We are less than two months away from Season 2 of Westworld and those questions still remain. There are new photos from Season 2 of Westworld and they only add more mystery and sadly, they don’t give us any more information about the most tantalizing tease of the second season: SAMURAI WORLD!!!

New photos of Season 2 of HBO’s hit sci-fi/western TV series feature Teddy (James Marsden) with Delores (Evan Rachel Wood), who is dressed in modern clothing for the first time. The photos show that the host rebellion is real and showing no signs of slowing down. The Man in Black (Ed Harris) looks worse for wear following the massacre.

Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) is seen with a faceless robot known as the “drone host.” “Bernard [will make] his way through the wreckage of the fallout from the first season… discovering things about the park that even he doesn’t know and coming upon creatures like the drone host,” said Westworld co-showrunner Jonathan Nolan. “The drone hosts relate to the corporation’s secret project which is hidden in plain sight in this park.” Yet there are no photos from Samurai World that we got a sneak peek of in last season’s finale. This is not okay.

Will there be Samurai World or Shogun World in Season 2? We don’t know yet. Another question is will we get other alternate parks such as Middle Ages World? Last October, Nolan was asked why there wasn’t Medieval World or Roman World in the HBO series and he responded by saying, “We have to save something for Season 2.” Those ancient Roman parks were in the original Westworld movie that came out in 1973 and was written and directed by novelist Michael Crichton.

You can see all of the photos over at Entertainment Weekly. Season 2 of Westworld premieres April 22nd on HBO. Let’s hope we get to see Samurai World.
