Retired General Colin Powell, U.S. Senator John McCain, Burt Reynolds, Tommy Lee during the Pam Anderson years, and Wheeler Walker, Jr. – perhaps the most efficient and accurate list of the greatest Americans in the history of history.
And while Mr. Walker – the country music legend – recently lost in his bid to become the American Mustache Institute’s Robert Goulet Memorial Mustached American of the Year to fellow performer Romeo Dance Cheetah, he remains a modern-day pop culture legend and force to be reckoned with in country music.
Indeed, his first ablum “Redneck Shit” debuted at #9 on the Billboard Music country charts and was hailed by the likes of Rolling Stone, Tiger Beat and the Christian Science Monitor.
Recently I sat down with Mr. Walker as part of the American Mustache Institute’s Peabody Award-winning series “The Mustache Interview,” through which I’ve chatted up the likes of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, rockers John Oates, Jim James and Dave Navarro; NFL coach Jeff Fisher, comedy legend Harry Shearer and more.
We discussed his new record “Ol’ Wheeler,” his take on Coldplay and the next president of the United States – Kid Rock.
