Now, this is a story all about how your life might get flipped turned upside down. And I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there. I’ll tell you how there might be a spinoff of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

The Hollywood Reporter published a news story that there will be a new Fresh Prince of Bel-Air spinoff TV show.

Despite being a huge Hollywood star with massive movies, Will Smith is thinking about the future and paving the way for his kids to make money in the entertainment industry. In July, Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith launched Westbrook Inc., “a cross-platform holding company designed to expand the Smith family brand beyond film and TV into new media, technology and even merchandising.” A perfect way for Willow (18) and Jaden (21) to branch out into new media, whether acting, performing music, or producing.

One way for Westebrook Inc. to demand immediate attention is if they made a Fresh Prince spinoff.

“In addition to producing Smith-fronted film projects, Westbrook is developing a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air spinoff series (he still earns hefty royalties from the 1990s NBC sitcom, now licensed to air in 193 territories),” THR reports.

Unfortunately, the report offered no other details about the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air spinoff and did not specify if Will Smith would even be reprising his role as the troubled Philly youth who went to live with his rich aunt and uncle in California.

You shouldn’t get too hopeful for a new Fresh Prince because Smith has said in the past that it isn’t happening. In a 2016 E! interview, Margot Robbie asked Smith “when will we finally see the Fresh Prince reboot?”

“I don’t think ever, like pretty close to when hell freezes over,” Smith answered. “Pretty close, like we’re going to leave that one alone.”

Maybe Smith will have a change of heart to help his own production company. The spinoff would automatically be way better than this gritty Fresh Prince reboot movie.

The story points out that Smith will continue to make big-time Hollywood movies. “And as the digital enterprise begins to monetize, it continues to enhance his global box office footprint, allowing his agents to negotiate for even bigger paydays (he is earning $12.5 million for Gemini Man and will land $20 million for playing the father of Serena and Venus Williams in Warner Bros.’ King Richard).”

Last year, Will Smith explained how the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air came to be, who was the inspiration for the story, his impromptu audition with Quincy Jones, and how he looked at his kingdom, he was finally there, to sit on his throne as the Prince of Bel-Air.
