It Took This Bro 5 Long Years To Beat ‘Ocarina Of Time’, And The Reason Why Will Leave You So F’n Inspired

It took gamer Terry “MegaTgarrett” Garrett five long and grueling years to beat The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, a feat he catalogued on his YouTube channel for all the world to see. With only ~9,000 subscribers on YouTube Terry wasn’t exactly raking in the views during his five-year-long journey to complete the N64 classic Ocarina of Time, but he’s found viral success recently after his video of him beating Gannon’s Tower (the final battle in Ocarina of Time) got picked up around the web.

Why’d it go viral? Why’d it take Terry Garrett 5 years to beat Ocarina of Time? Well, he’s blind. And I don’t have to explain to you how fucking difficult it’d be to beat Ocarina of Time without the use of your eyes…I can’t even beat it and I have perfect 20/20 vision. Here’s the video of his final battle (with details on his story below):

As you can see from the video’s uploaded to Terry’s YouTube channel he’s been at this since February 2011, nearly five full years from start to finish. If you have the time to poke around on Terry’s channel I can guaran-damn-tee that you’ll find some inspiration in seeing him methodically overcome obstacles without the use of his eyesight, a sense that I take for granted every day.

This was Terry’s very first Ocarina of Time video, uploaded back in 2011:

Kind of makes you wonder what you could accomplish in the next 5 years if you just hunkered down and set your mind on something…doesn’t it? (h/t Dorkly)
