Everyone was pretty bummed out when they found out that Season 7 of “Game of Thrones” will only have seven episodes and Season 8 will have just six episodes. Especially since we have so much story of the quest for the Iron Throne left to be told. But there might be one silver lining that could make everything much, much better. Every episode of the final season of “Game of Thrones” could be as long as a feature film.

We already know that the Season 7 finale will be 82 minutes long, and that may be the formula going into the last season of “GoT.” During the Con of Thrones convention, the show’s sound designer, Patricia Fairfield, said that all episodes of Season 8 season might be feature-length.

If all of the episodes are going to be 80+ minutes then we won’t get cheated out of “Game of Thrones” time because despite having just six episodes, the total time might be fairly close. In a normal season, there are 10 episodes generally at 55 minutes each giving you 550 minutes of epic fantasy entertainment. If Season 8 plays out with all six episodes at 80 minutes that will give us 480 minutes to wrap up the incredible TV series, equating to about one longer episode missed. The mini-movie-length episodes give showrunners plenty of time to play out massive battles in the north, south, east, and west.
