McDonald’s Chef Says He’s Considering Bringing Back Szechuan McNugget Sauce Following ‘Rick And Morty’

Nothing in pop culture won April Fools Day like Rick and Morty. The season three premiere of the Adult Swim cartoon threw the world into a tailspin, mostly because of Rick pleading with McDonald’s to bring back the limited edition, promotional “Szechuan McNugget” that the Golden Arches debuted with Disney in 1998. U

s ’90s kids remember that the fast food item existed for a hot second to promote the movie Mulan almost 20 years ago. In the wise words of Rick:

“I’m not driven by avenging my dead family…. I’m driven by finding that McNugget sauce. I want that Mulan McNugget Sauce … That’s my series arc, Morty. If it takes nine season, I want that McNugget Szechuan sauce.”

On Twitter, the show asked McDonalds for the sauce to make a comeback. The result was promising:

Meanwhile, a Change.org petition has over 22,000 signatures. And this is even more promising… A corporate chef at McDonald’s tweeted that he’ll “see what he can do” to bring it. So the wheels are in motion, people.

What a wonderful time to be alive.
