Reaction To Tragic Shooting Death Of ‘The Voice’ Singer Christina Grimmie And How Her Brother May Have Saved Lives

Former The Voice contestant and YouTube star Christina Grimmie has been shot dead after her concert in Orlando, Florida. On Friday night, Christina performed with the band Before You Exit at the Plaza Live venue. After the show, Christina was signing autographs when a gunman opened fire and killed the budding star.

At approximately 10:24 E.T. Orlando Police found Grimmie injured as well as the gunman shot dead in an apparent suicide. From the City of Orlando:

Detectives were told the suspect – who is not being identified at this time – walked toward Christina and shot her. Christina’s brother immediately tackled the suspect stopping him from causing any more harm to Christina and her fans. During the struggle, the suspect shot himself. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Christina would later die at a local hospital.

The brave actions by Christina’s brother may have prevented more deaths from the crazed killer.

Christina was only 22-years-old. The singer appeared on season 6 of The Voice in 2014 and finished in third place. Christina had been signed to Island Records and was reportedly working on an album.
