Stephen Colbert Diagrammed Donald Trump’s Response To The Orlando Shootings And Wound Up With A Swastika

I watched Donald Trump’s response to the Orlando shootings live, and it was so horrific that I immediately updated my voter registration to make sure I’d be good to go in November. I know we speak hyperbolically here, but his insane rant was really, truly like something out of a fascist strongman’s rise to power.

Don’t believe me, just replace the word “radical Islamic terrorism” in his speech with “the Jews” and see what you get.

(Before you say that’s an unfair comparison, radical Islamic terrorism is in no way destroying our society any more than the Jews were ruining Germany in the 30s.)

When it comes to Jews, ignorance is not bliss – it’s deadly.

I refuse to be politically correct.

I will have an Attorney General, a Director of National Intelligence, and a Secretary of Defense who will know how to fight the Jews – and who will have the support they require to get the job done.

We have to stop the tremendous flow of Jews into the United States – we don’t know who they are, they have no documentation, and we don’t know what they’re planning.

That is why our new goal must be to defeat the Jews.

America will be a tolerant and open society.

Just saying, that is the language of a demagogue. George W. Bush, who claimed to be the toughest U.S president on terrorism (a statement many of you reading would agree with), didn’t speak that way. And he did alright protecting us.

Thankfully, we have Stephen Colbert here to spell it out for anyone too oblivious to see what’s happening.

Watch as he diagrams Trump’s speech and subsequent insinuations and winds up with Germany in the 1930s.

Sure, maybe Trump’s plan will prevent terrorist attacks. But is this the way we really want to do that?
