Did you know that Stranger Things is so huge that they will have their own Super Bowl commercial? That means Netflix spent at least $5 million on advertising Season 2 of their massively successful sci-fi mystery show. To get loyal enthusiasts of the hit show hyped for the Super Bowl LI ad they shared this nostalgia porn photo of the gang dressed up as Ghostbusters.
From Entertainment Weekly:
EW is also debuting an image from the commercial, featuring Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) dressed as Ghostbusters.
The second season of Things takes place in 1984 — one year after the events of the first season — and has been shrouded in secrecy aside from a few details. But executive producer Shawn Levy (Arrival) did offer EW this tease: “The Demogorgon was destroyed but evil wasn’t.”
Stranger Things 2, which stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Paul Reiser, Sean Astin, Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, and Matarazzo, Wolfhard, and McLaughlin, will debut this year on Netflix.
The boys seem ready to show a prehistoric bitch how they do things downtown.
Season 2 of Stranger Things takes place in 1984, one year after the events of the first season. Little details are known about the upcoming season but executive producer Shawn Levy said that “the Demogorgon was destroyed but evil wasn’t.”
“It’s a year later in the story, so there are several things that happened last year, like Will has come back,” Levy said. “There are certain people in the town that know what happened, and then certain people that don’t know what happened. So there’s a lot of fallout with who knows what.”
Levy added that Season 2 will be “bigger and potentially darker.”
To add more speculation, the official Stranger Things Twitter posted a potentially deadly weekend weather forecast for Houston, the site of the 2017 Super Bowl.
This cryptic tweet got us like.
Could the 11 degrees just be a shoutout to the character Eleven?
Could it be the release date for Season 2? 67-58=9, 50-42=8, and barometric pressure 30-13=17, suggesting the release date is September 8, 2017.
Or is it an actual weather forecast? Good thing that the Super Bowl will be played in a dome because -11 temperatures would shut down any air attack by either teams.
