Taylor Swift Lost Virginity to Jake Gyllenhaal, Then Wrote Last Album About Their Breakup

Really earth-shattering, groundbreaking news out of Taylor Swift’s camp today (the camp is designed to look like an Instagram filter and it smells like the Belk perfume aisle): According to sources, Swift lost her virginity to Jake Gyllenhaal back in 2010, only to have him bail on her right before her 21st birthday party in December. He was so mean.

The insider told Radar Online that Swift had been saving herself for marriage—but Gyllenhaal did his Donnie Darko thing and convinced her to give it up three months into their relationship. Swift was sure they’d get married, but the then-30-year-old Gyllenhaal was not. He cut off all contact on the eve of her 21st birthday, leaving Swift heartbroken at her party.

“The day before — all was set — he was coming, no issues. But the day of, she doesn’t hear from him at all. No texts, no calls,” the insider revealed.

“Taylor thought maybe he was planning some sort of surprise. Nope. He didn’t show up and she locked herself in the bathroom and cried the entire night.”

Naturally, this led Swift to start churning out the “revenge” songs, and soon she had penned an entire album, Red, which Radar’s source says is heavily inspired by the Gyllenhaal breakup. See if you can place a few of the lyrics in “The Moment I Knew” (or better yet, take my word on it), which features the lines “You should’ve been there, Should’ve burst through the door/You said you’d be here,” etc:

Juicy gossip! And I haven’t even mentioned that this story would mean John Mayer—who is by all accounts a deviant—somehow dated Swift for a year without sleeping with her, which has to go down as one of the greatest upsets in entertainment history.

Anyway: at least we know now why age 22 is so much better.
