However… What are they really going for here? A World War II movie about the war in the Pacific, which doesn't really get as much attention as its European counterpart? Or whatever romantic subplot is going on with Matthew Fox and his Japanese lady-friend? (And by the way: oh shit, he's on a plane again!) The last thing we need is another interesting war movie that turns into a terrible love story. I still have PTSD about “Pearl Harbor.”
