The Trailer For The Next ‘Legend Of Zelda’ Game Dropped And It Couldn’t Be More Underwhelming

I grew up on Zelda games. From wandering around an island on Link’s Awakening to fighting the Skull Kid in Majora’s Mask, the Zelda franchise was a big part of my childhood and one of the only things that’s bled over into my adulthood.

With that said, the trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is rather underwhelming.

We’ve seen Nintendo use cell shading in the Zelda franchise back in Wind Waker and Skyward Sword, but it’s nothing new – sure the trailer is pretty, but it’s not giving me a feel for the assumedly open world. No villagers, no towns, no other characters besides Link running around fwappin’ enemies in the head with a stick and a presumable Zelda semi-narrating…it just feels empty.

It’s probably a safe assumption to say that all of these things are in the game and that they’ve simply been omitted from the trailer – but who knows? Maybe this is a post-apocalyptic Hyrule where everyone is dead and Link hears a Zelda-esque voice in his head telling him what to do.

For fuck’s sake I hope I’m wrong.
