These Celebrity Stories About Prince Show Just How Many Lives He Touched With His Music

Last night I witnessed one of the coolest things I’ve ever witnessed in my eight years of living in New York. Around 9PM, headed to Ft. Greene, Brooklyn where Spike Lee was hosting an impromptu Prince block party in front of his 40 Acres And A Mule production office. There were hundreds gathered on the block, with NYPD being uber chill about the gathering by closing off traffic on each side of the block. DJ Sway blasted Prince hits on the steps of the brownstone while Spike Lee — swaged out in purple — MC’d. There was singing. There was dancing — a lot of dancing. There were tears. It was a wonderfully human moment celebrating Prince’s importance to the cultural at large.

We’ve posted a lot of stories about Prince over the last two days, all incredibly amusing. Here are a couple more just to solidify how important he was to so many people.
