Let's run through this one more time. He reunited Ma$e and Diddy.

He cooled tensions with Kanye. (The surprise couldn't touch the near-riot that occurred at Travi$ Scott's L.A. show last week, but it's still fascinating to see both Drake and Kanye's new mutual respect… and the fact that “New Slaves” is now a stadium song.)

And he performed with TLC, A$AP, J Cole, Miguel, The Weeknd, and Big Sean (boii):

What's most amazing, to me, about yesterday is that when Take Care was released, it was widely successful but considered very strange, a weird brew of R&B, dark atmospherics, and near-psychoanalysis, all mixed with the usual rap decadence. “In the future an album like this will be commonplace; today, it’s radical,” the New York Times said in 2011. That “future” took two years. Drake's weirdness is the new normal. Every artist (from Kendrick Lamar to goddamn Mac Miller) seems to be experimenting with their form and their songcraft. And they're all connected in a way to Drake.

The new album is called Nothing Was the Same. Its title is ostensibly a reference to the changes made in Drake's life since his rise to the top. But it could very easily also be a reference to rap's changing of the guard.

I mean, this new song, “Hold On We're Going Home” sounds like a Pet Shop Boys cover. Because why not at this point?
