Celebrate Frank Zappa’s Birthday By Watching The ‘Titties And Beer’ Songwriter Talk About Having So Much Damn Sex In The ’60s

Frank Zappa is the ultimate counter culture counter culture icon. Yes, counter culture counter culture. Dude embodied what it means to be “in on the joke” when it comes to art and music. One of the most prolific artists of the ’70s and ’80s, Zappa hated hippies, hated yuppies, hated censorship, mocked power, loved making money, and — more importantly — loved calling artists and celebrities and society itself out on its hypocritical bullshit. He also loved sex. Lots and lots of sex with lots and lots of ladies.

But let’s not forget he was a musical genius who could compose a hell of a jam (…stop what you’re doing right now and listen to “Peaches En Regalia“), critique the shit out of the music businessshut down stupid moralists on live television, and shred the living hell out of a guitar — all with a self-depreciating sense of humor as a reminder that — Hey! — maybe we shouldn’t be taking this show called life so fucking seriously. And remember — this rock star never did a damn drug in his life, as far out as he was.

Today, December 21, would have been Frank Zappa’s 76th birthday. To honor the man behind the greatest song ever about two things every bro loves — “Titties and Beer” (…how the hell else was I going to get you stupid meatheads to click this link?) — I recommend you watch the video above about the  sexual revolution. Then listen to “Titties and Beer” on full blast so that your neighbors hear it so you can tell them to “blow it out your ass, motorcycle man!”

And on a more serious note, this video will always be one of my favorite of all time:
