Get In The Mood For Fall By Watching An Awesome Bluegrass Band Perform In A Tennessee Cave

Now that Labor Day is in the rearview mirror, it’s time to take a fast-first dive into fall. Something about the season makes me want to do very specific behaviors — drink heady pumpkin beers, bust out Patagonia quart-zips, grill and chill in the parking lots of stadiums with friends. Summer rules, but fall is the great kodiak bear of seasons.

I love listening to bluegrass music in the fall. For some reason the acoustic strum of a banjo and mandolin twang just fits like a sweater once the days start getting a little bit shorter. So I wanted to share this video of Railroad Earth — the pride and joy of Sussex County, New Jersey — playing in a cave in Tennessee for Bluegrass Underground on PBS. I think Railroad Earth has been on every single “Fall” play list I’ve made since 2004. They’re the best.

Happy fall.
