We already knew that the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 was going to be fast, real fast. But Ford wants you to know that their upcoming road rocket ship will also brake really, really fast.

Ford is touting the upcoming 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 by letting you know that the new ‘Stang has a very particular set of specs. The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 does 0-100-0 in 10.6 seconds. That’s extremely fast and yet has some outstanding stopping power.

What this means is that the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 goes from a standstill zero mph to 100 mph and back down to zero miles per hour in a mere 10.6 seconds. This amazing performance is superior to the famed McLaren F1, which zooms 0-100-0 in 11.5 seconds.

This kind of incredible performance shouldn’t surprise many because the Mustang boasts a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 engine that is hand-built in Michigan and pumps out 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque.

There won’t be a manual option, but the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic can upshift in 0.08 second, which only assists in these breakneck speeds. Although Ford did not release official numbers, the 2020 Shelby GT500 is expected to go from 0 to 60 MPH around 3.5 seconds. Another highly anticipated American muscle car, the mid-engine 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, is said to rocket from zero to 60 in less than three seconds according to General Motors.

The new Mustang reached this impressive 0-100-0 time thanks to a beefed-up suspension and fat Brembo brakes that include 16.5-inch front rotors and a dual-clutch system.

The 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500, which is the most powerful street-legal Ford Mustang ever built, will go on sale this fall. The brand-new Mustang Shelby GT500 has a base price of $73,995 including shipping and a $2,600 gas-guzzler tax. There’s also an $18,500 Carbon Fiber Track Package with 20-inch carbon wheels, an adjustable rear wing, and front splitter wickers.
