The reality is, people just treat you differently when you pull up in a fancy car. In Los Angeles, in particular, automobiles are so intertwined in the local culture that what you drive often becomes part of one’s identity.

So, imagine the response when I showed up to legendary local hotspot Spago in the 2023 Aston Martin DBX707. Not only were the valets prompt and eager to provide their best quality service, but also, upon entering the fine dining establishment, I received the warmest welcome and hospitality that I’ve ever received in 10 years in Los Angeles.

Pulling up in the DBX707 instantly put me in that rarified VIP category, and soon it was off to the finest table in the house.

Aston Martin DBX707 Interior

At first glance, I’m immediately drawn to the DBX707’s understated and elegant Q Satin Lunar White exterior, dark grille, and 22” alloy wheels. The matte finish is slick and inconspicuous Classy. Exactly how I like it. No need to draw unnecessary attention. The interior, on the other hand, with its Blue Haze Metallic and Light Argento Metallic duotone leather, with lime green contrast stitch is a total showstopper.

Sitting inside this 2023 Aston Martin, it’s already apparent why this luxury SUV comes with a $290,086 price tag.

In addition to standard features like the 10” navigation system with Apple CarPlay, four USB inputs, 360-degree camera with front and rear parking sensors, keyless entry with push button start, rain sensing wipers, and panoramic full-length glass roof, this model also includes some sweet upgrades, like the 23” forged – satin black/diamond turned wheel, the twill carbon fiber upper package, and smoked taillights.

The cabin has a completely futuristic, space-age feel, transforming the driving experience into something otherworldly. Intergalactic even.

Aston Martin DBX707 Engine Work

Fulfilling a lifelong James Bond fantasy, I hop behind the wheel of the 2023 Aston Martin DBX707 and immediately hit the highway.

Scampering up the pothole laden hills of City Terrace, Los Angeles en route to I-10 East, I’m instantly struck by the smoothness of the DBX707. I’ve driven some incredible cars through these streets, but nothing can compare to the steady handle of this Aston Martin.

Merging onto the freeway, I see plenty of free real estate ahead and hit the accelerator, opening up the 9-speed wet-clutch automatic transmission. The 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine really is something to behold. It’s not so much from 0-60 mph where you feel the power of the 697 horsepower, but more like in the 35-95 mph range. The DBX707 doesn’t struggle or flinch for even a millisecond, seamlessly increasing in speed with fluidity and grace.

This is pure driving joy, and after a few more seconds of acceleration, I gently enact the carbon ceramic high performance braking system. Much like the journey up to triple digit speeds, the descent back to the standard flow of traffic is equally smooth. Additionally, the blind spot warning, lane keep assist, and autonomous emergency braking safety features add an extra level of peace of mind behind the wheel of the Aston Martin DBX0707.

Aston Martin DBX707 Test Drive

Of course, this test drive isn’t only about speed, so I return to the surface streets of Los Angeles to garner a more well-rounded impression of the 2023 Aston Martin DBX707, which truly is a four door sport utility vehicle unlike any other.

Driving from Monterey Park to Downtown LA, and then to the West Side, to Santa Monica, the DBX707 attracts attention at every stoplight, parking lot, and gas station. Onlookers glare and gaze, impressed and intrigued with the vehicle’s sheer beauty, style, and sophistication. There aren’t too many of these on the road, so there’s an added level of exclusivity.

With unanimous approval from others on the road, I continue to meander through Los Angeles, cruising through Beverly Hills and then on to Hollywood. Making the trip even more pleasant is the center console sensor touch control. Both slick and hi-tech, the entertainment controls work similar to a laptop trackpad, allowing the driver to select music or switch from Apple CarPlay to Sirius XM Radio while still driving safely. It’s a wicked feature that drastically improves an already amazing driving experience.

It’s one of the many highlights of the Aston Martin DBX707.

IN SUMMATION

Initially flabbergasted by the near $300,000 price tag, it soon became evident why the 2023 Aston Martin DBX707 is priced as such. With its combination of prestige and extreme luxury, the DBX707 is at the highest end of the SUV spectrum, both in terms of style and performance.

While cost remains a major barrier for entry for the mass market, this is not a vehicle that is looking to cater and appeal to the average automotive consumer. The Aston Martin DBX707 is an elite sport utility vehicle, and deserves to be praised and respected as such.
