Angel’s Envy Releases First-Ever Cask Strength Rye Alongside 12th Cask Strength Bourbon

Angel's Envy Cask Strength Rye and Bourbon 2023

Angel's Envy

The 2023 release of the highly sought after and coveted Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Bourbon this year will be accompanied by the first-ever Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Rye.

The Cask Strength Bourbon is one of those releases that always gets circled on the proverbial Bourbon Calendar as one to watch out for. It delivers the goods year after year and has even been named “best spirit in the world” in the past.

This year’s Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Bourbon is a 118.2-proof release that is “creamy, indulgent, and complex.” I was fortunate enough to taste an advanced sample release and the heat is very smooth while the flavors are bursting with notes of caramel, cherry, and marshmallow with a substantial amount of baking spice on the finish followed by hints of red wine.

In total, there will be 22,656 bottles of the Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Bourbon available for purchase across all 50 states. It will be released to the public on December 1st.

Angel's Envy

For me, a lover of the heat the first-ever Cask Strength Rye whiskey release from Angel’s Envy is where the biggest news is at.

Fellas, this is going to be a tough bottle to track down. There will only be 5,500 bottles of the AE Cask Strength Rye released, also on December 1st. Unlike the Cask Strength Bourbon, the Rye will only be released in KY, NY, FL, CA, TX, IL, OH, and TN.

Read through this description of the first-ever Cask Strength Rye release from Angel’s Envy and tell me your mouth isn’t watering: “creamy notes of pears, cream, and rye spice on the palate, which lead into a finish of cream soda, black tea, and a floral sweetness.” Rye Spice + Cream Soda + Black Tea? Fellas, my interest is all the way piqued.

What makes this rye so special?

For the distillery’s first-ever Cask Strength Rye release, master distiller Owen Martin went all out. He hand-selected two rye whiskeys. One of the ryes was finished in Sauternes Casks and the other was finished in Toasted Oak barrels. They were then masterfully blended together by Owen Martin, the man behind the magic at Angel’s Envy.

The Cask Strength Rye is a 114.4% ABV release. Bottles of the Rye will have a suggested retail price of $269.99 and the Cask Strength Bourbon will have an SRP of $229.99.

In addition to select retailers, bourbon and rye drinkers will be able to find these for purchase at the Angel’s Envy Distillery on December 1st at 500 East Main Street in downtown Louisville. You can visit the Angel’s Envy website for more information as that date gets closers.
