What if I told you that you could purchase a car with similar looks and performance of a Ferrari, the cockpit of a jet fighter, plus enough trunk space for two golf bags, all for under $60,000? Impossible, right? General Motors just made the unreal possibility a very real reality. After three years of glimpses and leaks, Chevrolet finally has officially unveiled the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and it is absolutely breathtaking.
The Chevrolet Corvette was first introduced in 1953 and the latest model is the eighth generation of the classic American sports car. The C8 boasts the most radical design change since the Corvette’s inception and features major Ferrari vibes. But the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is not just a pretty face, it packs some serious performance specs at a bargain price.
The major change that you can’t see is that the new Corvette has an engine behind the driver’s seat for increased visibility and responsiveness for the driver. The mid-engine delivers some serious get-go thanks to its 6.2-liter V8 that pumps out 495 HP and 470 lb-ft of torque when equipped with performance exhaust or Z51 Performance Package.
The new LT2 engine is paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transaxle as there are paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The C8 is the most powerful production Corvette Stingray ever, the LT1 engine provided only 460 HP.
The new engine allows drivers to rocket from 0 to 60 MPH in less than three seconds. While quarter-mile or top speed figures were not released yet, you can damn well expect this beauty to fly.
There is also a Driver Mode Selector that allows the driver to electronically calibrate up to 12 performance variables so that you are optimized for a number of different driving conditions. There’s also an all-new My Mode and Z-Mode that lets you personalize performance even more.
The interior of the 2020 Corvette Stingray looks like the cockpit of a jet fighter. The driver-centric setup offers plenty of displays at the driver’s disposal including a large 8-inch LCD infotainment touchscreen within reach. The C8 is even equipped with a color Head-Up Display, really making you feel like Maverick from Top Gun.
Chevrolet will also offer plenty of customization for the new C8 with 12 exterior color options, six interior color themes, six available seat belt colors and three seat options. The new Vette features 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels that are available in two designs inside of two spoke styles. There’s also a removable roof panel.
There is a dual-trunk setup that provides the supercar the utility of a sedan.
The most impressive aspect to the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray might be the price tag. The brand-new C8 costs under $60,000, which is incredible. You basically get a Ferrari with trunk space for under $60K.
