Grunt Style/American Grit
As we start the new year, it’s important to not only think about how you want to help and improve yourself, but what you can do for others. For the last two years, the Grunt Style Foundation has been committed to providing life-changing resources and experiences in which veterans, service members, and their families thrive. Here are several initiatives that the foundation has undertaken and will continue in 2024.
Food insecurity: In 2023, the Grunt Style Foundation delivered over 93,000 pounds of food at their quarterly deployments, serving active-duty service members across four military installations. Over the coming months, the Grunt Style Foundation will be coordinating more donations, drives, and deployment of volunteers to distribute food and supplies to those who need it in various locations throughout the United States.
Mental health: In recent years, veterans not only have more options to address mental health issues but also The Triangular Compass program provides community information and resources to different modalities outside of what is currently offered through the Veterans Affairs administration. The program promotes modalities of wellness surrounding Mind, Body, and Spirit.
Psychedelics: Sounds crazy, right? Here us out: with so many issues surrounding opioids in this country, why not branch out to more natural and controlled hallucinogens? Psilocybin (better known as “magic mushrooms”) has been shockingly effective at treating PTSD, sometimes in a single microdose. In these laboratory settings, the dosage is carefully controlled, the patient monitored continuously, and the amount given is so small as to only induce a mild sense of euphoria, less than one would experience from a cannabis gummy.
