Hyundai Kite Is A Dune Buggy That Transforms Into A Jet Ski

Wish you had a dune buggy? But do you also wish you had a jet ski? Why not both? That is the thinking behind this crazy concept vehicle that Hyundai revealed at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Hyundai teamed up with the Istituto Europeo di Design, a design school based in Milan, to create the Hyundai Kite. The dune buggy/jet ski was created by 15 students at the school who are earning their Masters in Transportation Design.

“The Hyundai Kite is a doorless, roofless and windowless vehicle that can drive both on streets and over water,” Hyundai says. The Hyundai Kite features oversized OZ Racing wheels complete with off-road tires, LED headlights, and a partially exposed suspension. The vehicle is all-electric and all-wheel drive thanks to four motors on each wheel for when you’re on land. When you’re on the water there is a water jet turbine that powers you through the waves.

Hyundai is still testing the waters on the Kite so no actual specs were provided. But there would seem to be a market for a vehicle that can navigate the sandy beach but also make wakes in the lake. If cars that ride on the water aren’t your thing, check out the first commercial flying car HERE.
