Limited-Edition Knob Creek 18-Year-Old Bourbon Celebrates 30 Years Of Exquisite Whiskey

It is hard to believe that Knob Creek is celebrating its 30th birthday because it has become such an integral part of the whiskey world’s fabric, but here we are. And to honor 30 years of exceptional whiskey, Knob Creek is releasing a limited edition Knob Creek 18-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, the oldest ever release from Knob Creek.

Knob Creek was launched three decades ago by whiskey legend Booker Noe, the grandson of Jim Beam and a 6th Generation Master Distiller with the James B. Beam Distillery. Since then, they’ve released a library full of award-winning expressions.

My own home bar has the full lineup of Knob Creek across one shelf and I’ve been fortunate enough sit down and speak with Fred Noe about Knob Creek’s limited-edition 15 year whiskey in the past. So the Knob Creek 18 has certainly piqued my interest. Here’s what we know so far.

Here is the rundown on what’s inside the bottle, from the recent Knob Creek 18 press release:

  • Proof: 100
  • Color: Rich copper tones with auburn hues
  • Aroma: Brown sugar and aged oak, with notes of char and caramel
  • Taste: Full-bodied with notes of caramelized oak and hints of sweet vanilla and baking spices
  • Finish: Warm finished with spice and slight floral and fruit notes

Knob Creek’s flagship bourbon is aged for 9 years in the Clermont, Kentucky rickhouses. This is aged for DOUBLE that time leading to a richer color, a lot more oak with plenty of spice in there, and one of the most beautiful colors of any bourbons you’ll ever see.

When discussing his father’s legacy and the Knob Creek 18-year bourbon, Fred Noe said “this new 18 Year Old liquid is a nod to his vision and commitment to quality and craftsmanship, and I know this is a whiskey he’d be proud to serve. I’m honored to further his legacy with Knob Creek’s oldest and boldest expression yet.”

The suggested price is $169.99 for a 750mL bottle which, all things considered, is quite reasonable given that it’s the oldest Knob Creek release ever.
