Klipsch T5 II Review As A City-Dweller
After 60+ years of making loudspeakers, Klipsch set out to revolutionize the headphone industry. And now they’ve brought the same advanced acoustic engineering and industrial design from their legendary home theater speakers to the T5 II series earbuds. Having used the earbuds over the past week, check out my favorite features of these improved earbuds.
In the past month, I embarked on a new journey by moving into a downtown apartment. Having recently graduated college, I wanted the hustle and bustle of the city all around me. But living in the suburbs my whole life didn’t exactly prepare me for the late-night shenanigans and hourly police sirens. With my apartment flooding with noise all-hours of the day, you can imagine how distracting it can get.
Klipsch Noise Cancellation
First off. I use the Active Noise Cancellation feature by far the most. Living in DTLA, I’ve come to learn that I can hear the music from bars several blocks away. So when I’m having a night in to binge some Netflix, every episode sounds like a nightclub with the added dance beats in the background. Oftentimes, I begrudgingly turn on the subtitles just so I can follow along to the dialogue. Thankfully with the Klipsch T5 II True Wireless Earbuds, the volume button and I don’t have to take on the city noise anymore.
With feedforward and feedback microphones, these earbuds negate unwanted background noise more substantially than I was expecting. Not even the shouts of my roommate raging as he dies to a cheater in Warzone could interrupt me from the latest episode of Ted Lasso.
All Day Comfort and Power
Before opening up the Klipsch T5 II True Wireless ANC Earbuds, I was honestly worried. My past experiences with different earbuds didn’t set me up with high hopes. I typically had to take them out not even an hour after putting them on due to strain. And they never really fit comfortably, either falling out constantly or feeling way too tight and jammed.
Upon opening these earbuds up, I immediately knew they were going to be different. Right off the bat Klipsch provides you with 6 pairs of patented silicon oval ear tips. I switched out the default medium tips for the small+ size, which fit perfectly. After a couple days of use, I didn’t feel any fatigue in the slightest.
From taking work calls to watching TV to listening to podcasts, I use my earbuds for a majority of the day. So to be able to wear them day after day with uninterrupted comfort, that’s a W in my book. And with 7 hours of battery life on a single charge (5 hours w/ ANC), I can go through my whole day without taking them off. And it really lives up to that. I was able to listen to an 2-hour podcast, take several work calls, and listen to some music at the gym, all before needing a charge. And for my longer days, the charging case provides up to 21 additional hours (15 hours w/ ANC), so I’m never without them.
Functionality Like No Other
The noise cancellation and improved comfort of these Klipsch earbuds made me a huge fan. However, the functionality they provide is what made them an everyday item for me. Sporting a single button on each earbud, you can seamlessly transition between the different audio modes, as well as control volume, voice assistants, and calls. And by using the Klipsch Connect app and integrated Bragi OS, you can customize button commands and set up hands-free gesture control.
I found it particularly useful whenever hitting the gym. I could up the volume with a single button press or skip to the next song just by nodding my head twice. So as I’m putting in mileage on the treadmill, there’s nothing in my way to slow me down. And the earbuds are IPX4 rated for water resistance, so I can get a good sweat in without worry of damage.
Dirac HD Sound
