Booker’s Bourbon ‘Ronnie’s Batch’
The first Booker’s Bourbon Batch release of 2022 recently hit shelves. ‘Ronnie’s Batch’ is now available nationwide in limited quantities and it was named in honor of Ronnie Land. Ronnie was a longtime employee of the James B. Beam Distlling Co., working at the Jim Beam Clermonot and Boston, Kentucky plants under master distiller Booker Noe.
Ronnie worked for Jim Beam for 40 yers and rose the ranks all the way up to Warehouse Manager before retirement. Over his four decades, he was responsible for keeping inventory of the aging barrels and he was renowned for knowing the exact location and quantities of barrels by heart.
Ronnie Land was also the person who prepared samples for Booker Noe to evaluate. One time Ronnie sent Booker a batch of samples that “werent’ big enough to get a proper sense of the whiskey.” He then followed up with noticeably larger sample sizes for Booker and that actually became the company’s standard sample size and it’s still used to this day when evaluating whiskey batches.

Rare Hare 1953 17-Year-Old Straight Bourbon Whiskey

One of the most exciting whiskey announcements of the past few months came this week in the form of Rare Hare 1953 Anniversary Edition. Rare Hare 1953 is named in honor of the year Playboy was founded, and this 17-year-old straight bourbon whiskey was finished in XXO Cognac casks from France’s Champagne.
17-year-old bourbon finished in XXO Cognac casks?! I was almost scared to check the price tag when I saw this announcement but all things considered, a rare release like this is worth every penny to whiskey-lover. Only 1,953 bottles were made (1953 again) and it’s currently available for pre-order at ReserveBar ($589).

Nose: Maturity and dried fruit with specific aromas of caramelized nectarine and light clove.
Palate: Medium bodied with light herbal notes and creamed corn; light oak and baking spices.
Finish: Long-lasting on the tongue with never ending caramel and a touch of nutmeg.
Rare Hare 1953 is the inaugural release from Playboy Spirits. This is obviously an ultra-premium offering and I wouldn’t expect every Rare Hare release to be in this price range but they’re going all out to start.
Each bottle has an NFC (near-field communication) chip in it and that chip “will give inaugural 1953 owners access to the Rare Hare Society offering exclusive luxury travel experiences, intimate events, private barrel releases and more” according to Playboy Spirits. That’s certainly an interesting aspect of this release.

Seth Rogen’s ‘Houseplant’ Lightning Collection Just Dropped

Seth Rogen initially launched his business ‘Houseplant’ in Canada back in 2019 with partners Evan Goldberg and Michael Mohr. They then expanded to the United States in March 2021 with Seth announcing the move on his Twitter and there was so much interest it actually crashed the company’s website.
Earlier this week, Houseplant launched their lighting collection which includes strut lamps, weight lamps, and stack lanterns all with built-in ashtrays. You don’t necessarily have to live in a legal cannabis state to enjoy these Houstplant creations but it certainly doesn’t hurt because the Stoner Decor vibe is amazing.

Leather Sebago Boat Shoes
