Kate Upton, the former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model and future Mrs. Justin Verlander is making her triumphant return to modeling after a several years hiatus from the limelight. Spending every working day pouring over the latest news on the Internet I like to think that I’m pretty tapped into the pulse of what happens, but maybe I’m more out of touch then I realize because I had no idea that Kate Upton even retired from modeling back in 2014, the year she ditched IMG Models.
According to PageSix, Kate Upton’s signed a contract with Next Model Management and is getting back into the business of modeling after several years on the sidelines. Apparently Kate had retired from modeling back in 2014 when she left IMG Models, at the time believing that her acting career was taking off after an appearance in the movie The Other Woman with Cameron Diaz. I guess that means that now is as good a time as any to catch up on what Kate Upton’s been doing recently on Instagram, and let’s be honest, she’s looking damn fine in the last two photos below:
This is a celebrity that I’ve met several times too, back in 2011 when I was helping run Guyism we spent the day filming videos with her in Madison Square Park (NYC), a group of us shared drinks together at a Sobe event later that day with Kate in attendance, and about a year after that I ran into her at the movie premiere for Friends With Benefits and we kicked it for a bit that night.
So creepy as this might sound I’ve taken extra interest in her career simply because she’s one of the celebrities I’ve met a handful of times, and it’s been fun to see her success. That’s why it is even more bizarre that neither me nor my co-workers had any idea that she had retired from modeling. It does make sense though, because several times over the past two years we’ve discussed something to the effect of ‘why the shit isn’t Kate Upton doing any new modeling shoots?’…Now we know.
