Jessica Chastain to play Marilyn Monroe because more movies about a dead sex symbol are needed

Marilyn Monroe. If you don’t know who she is, ask your grandfather. Oh, he’s dead? Sorry to hear.

Ask your dad. He’s too young to remember. OK.

Well, watch any of the other hundred movies about Marilyn Monroe to find out who she was, and her cultural significance, but do it before another movie hits theaters. Because another one is coming.

Where only a few years ago we saw a Marilyn Monroe biopic featuring Glinda herself (Michelle Williams), Jessica Chastain is now the latest to step into the icon’s shoes for the film ‘Blonde’ (or in her case, perhaps it should be called ‘Not a Natural Blonde’).‘Blonde,’ based on the Pulitzer Prize finalist novel of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates, was announced back in 2010 and has become director Andrew Dominik’s passion project. Only now as Chastain’s casting been announced, via The Wrap, as the star of ‘The Help’ (in which she was also a blonde), ‘Zero Dark Thirty‘ and ‘Mama‘ entered negotiations for the part.

The movies doesn’t have a release date yet. So anyone else looking to release a Marilyn Monroe movie has plenty of time.
