New ‘Oldboy’ remake trailer reveals a bit more

Will Josh Brolin eat a live squid? No squid, no sale. Park Chan-Wook’s Oldboy is one of those movies that really doesn’t need a remake. The Korean vengeance epic is a tightly-wound coil of perfectly-planned shock scenes that still wows to this day. But, because this is America, we’re getting one, directed by Spike Lee and starring Brolin as a man who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years, only to escape and hunt down the people who put him there. Brolin also had some interesting comments about the film, remarking that he preferred Lee’s original three-hour cut to the version FilmDistrict will release on November 27th.
