It’s usually in the summer that sneaker companies like to release most of their new kicks. And it makes sense, the summer has us wearing shorts, playing sports, and we’re prone to want to pick up a new pair. Here’s a mix of some classic options and some new releases that are worth checking out.
Jordan Son of Mars
The Jordan brand needs no explanation. Everyone from sneaker heads to many of our dads have owned a pair of two over the years. And yet they still generate excitement and they still look cool. While an original pair of these Jordan 3’s can run you up to $400, Nike released the Son of Mars edition that you can pick up online or at Nike Town.
New Balance Day Trippers
New Balance is known for comfort but also for their classic style and basic color templates. The DayTrippers are a twist on their default 574 model. They’re also made in the USA, which is something not many other shoe companies can say.
Nike Waffle Racer Sneaker
This Nike Waffle racer has a throw-back feel Nike’s early days when Steve Prefontaine made them cool. even the red has a faded-glory air to it. It’s a Nike design, but are sold through J. Crew retailers.
Vans Suede Era
These low rise old-school Vans are perfect for the summer. They look good with shorts and come in every color variation imaginable. They’re also cheap, which is an obvious plus.
Nike Killshot 2
Another Nike design for J. Crew, this is the kind of classic white sneaker that every guy needs. The Killshot 2 sneakers are just an easy shoe to wear. Jeans, khakis, shorts, whatever, these shoes will always look good.
Another classic, but one that I don’t see around too often. Sambas always looks cool with jeans, and a favorite of Bob Marley and Europeans. Adidas aren’t my personal favorite (I’m clearly a Nike guy), but I dig the Samba’s.
Nike Flyknit Trainer
Nike’s been making some cool running shoes recently that are good for everyday wear. These Flyknit Trainers have an awesome weave pattern of black and white. Definitely worth a look.
