Titanium Escape Ring brings new meaning to ‘be prepared’

As regular readers know, I love multi-tools. I even love the Titanium Utility Ring. On the other hand, if you see the Titanium Escape Ring and have actual uses for it, you might want to take a hard look at your life choices.

The ring looks like a fairly simple band from the outside, because that’s pretty much exactly what it is. The real trick is hidden inside the ring: A stainless steel shim pick/saw combination multitool that’s easy to pop out even with your hands behind your back. The idea is that you use the shim pick to get out of handcuffs and the saw to cut through duct tape, zipcuffs, and other disposable restraining devices.

In reality, you probably won’t have a need for this unless you’re a stage magician or a super-spy, but it is nice to have tools like this handy on your person, not because you’ll need to escape custody but because you’ll need to cut through something or other, and this is more discreet than a knife hanging off your keychain.

The TSA will likely still confiscate this, though.
