Here’s How The United States Air Force Loads The Largest, Most Badass Jet Gun Known To Man (VIDEO)

The United States military is, without question, the most advanced military force in the history of mankind. Case in point: the GAU-8 Avenger, a seven-barrel Gatling gun style cannon that is mounted onto the USAF’s Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II. It is the world’s largest combat jet gun, and it is one hell of a weapon.

For those of you wondering how many shots this gun can get off a minute? 4,200-rounds-per-minute, without any complications, all extremely accurate.

Gizmodo’s Sploid was able to grab footage of this incredible weapon, putting together this video on how the United States Air Force loads and reloads the GAU-8 Avenger. Honestly, with so many moving parts I feel like I watched this video about three times and I still don’t have a solid grasp on just how the GAU-8 Avenger is reloaded. There’s just so much going on that my mind is unsure of where to focus.

It wasn’t too long ago that I posted footage of a similar weapon being fired, the GAU-22/A that’s mounted on the F35-A. That gun fires off 181 rounds in a matter of seconds, and it’s going to blow your mind hole apart. CHECK IT OUT HERE.
